How to use a wax heater?
Home waxing: step-by-step instructions on how to properly use a wax heater
Home waxing can be easy and effective if you know how to properly use a wax heater and heat the wax.
Using a wax warmer ensures that your wax reaches the right temperature for safe and effective hair removal. We recommend using a wax warmer like Waxi, as it has precise heat control and ensures even melting. However, to get professional-level results at home, it’s important to know exactly how to use it.
Here is a clear, step-by-step guide on how to use a wax warmer and melt wax pellets properly.
Before you begin, choose a clean, flat surface for your heater. Make sure the location is free of moisture, away from children or pets, and near an electrical outlet.
You will need:
Pour the selected hard wax pellets into the wax warmer. For small areas, such as the upper lip or underarms, a small amount (about a quarter/half of the container) will be enough. For larger areas, such as legs, arms or bikini waxing, fill it full.
Option 1
Turn on the wax heater and set the control to 160F (the Waxi heater has this all the way around). Allow the wax to melt completely. This usually takes about 5-10 minutes.
The wax is ready when it has melted to a smooth, honey-like consistency.
If you prefer, you can initially set the regulator to the highest temperature (240F) and once the wax is melted, reduce it to 160F. This will ensure the wax melts faster, but be careful to allow the wax to cool slightly before applying it to your skin.
If the wax has melted too much - is very liquid and immediately runs off the stick, add additional wax pellets, consider lowering the temperature, or even remove the silicone bowl from the heater for a short time until the wax is the consistency of honey again.
Always do an allergy test before applying wax to your skin. Use a spatula or wooden waxing sticks to take a small amount of wax and apply it to the inside of your wrist.
The wax should be warm, but never uncomfortably hot. If it stings or burns, let it cool for a minute, stir, and check again.
With our wax warmer, there are fewer worries. It will keep the wax at your set temperature throughout your waxing session, automatically turning off the heating mode when it is reached, and automatically turning the heating back on if it starts to cool down. Stir occasionally to maintain an even texture and avoid hot spots.
If the wax starts to thicken too much, increase the temperature slightly until it returns to a soft, honey-like consistency.
When the waxing is complete:
♡ Turn off the wax heater and unplug it.
♡ Allow the remaining wax to cool and harden if you plan to reuse it.
♡ Our wax warmers come with a silicone bowl, which means there's no need to wipe it with a paper towel! Just wait until the wax has hardened and remove it from the silicone or leave it for your next waxing session.
♡ For best waxing results, apply after-wax lotion and, if necessary, a soothing face mask.
